INTRODUCTION ORIC DEPARTMENT

Shaheed Zulifiqar Ali Bhutto University Of Law (SZABUL) established by Government Of Sindh under Sindh X111 of 2013 is providing quality education in the field of Law, Business Administration and criminology in accordance with HEC rules and guidelines. The university started its operation about less than a decade ago however it has experienced tremendous growth and popularity over the years.

OUR ROLE

ORIC in SZABUL will play a pivotal role in the development and condition of research activities and will create awareness about new methodologies, techniques and international standards in research among faculty, staff and research scholars through periodic trainings. It will collaborate with national and international institutions, corporations and other universities in order to organize research conferences, seminars, training workshops and obtain research grants.

What We Offer

SZABUL-ORIC will provide the following services to its faculty staff and research scholars:

Registering Research

ORIC will assist in the registration process of all research which the faculty and/or students are desirous to carry out.

Research Support

We will provide support and facilitate research candidates and faculty in all stages of research work and publication.

Research Quality

ORIC will assist and promote quality and original research work and publication as per HEC and international standards.

Research Standards

We will publicize and promote international, national and ethical standards in all research work and its publications

Standards & Policies

Assist in developing standards and policies related to research and other process like protection of property rights, conflict of interest and others with the aim of promoting a conducive culture

Innovation & Commercialization

Will assist faculty and research candidates in developing innovative solutions and its commercialization either solely or in collaboration with other universities, government bodies, private partnership and others

Research Funding

We will assist in obtaining and mobilizing resources for research from national and international funding bodies along with assisting in research grant applications

SZABUL Journals

Assist, launch and manage research and other journals of SZABUL and ensure highest quality along with obtaining international and national recognitions.

Our Responsibilities

SZABUL-ORIC is responsible for all activities related to research, innovation and commercialization. Specifically the responsibility of the office of research innovation and commercialization will be as under:

All research activities being conducted in the university in all disciplines will be registered and monitored by ORIC.

The office will develop and update all policies, procedures, standards and guidelines including ethical standards related to research, innovation and commercialization.

ORIC will be responsible for capacity building of faculty, staff and research scholars through organizing seminars, training and workshops at SZABUL.

Facilitate faculty participation in conferences, workshops, seminars and other related activities both at national and international level.

Facilitate faculty and research scholars in developing and submission of research proposal in order to obtain research grant by national international institutions.

Coordinate with national and international research institutions to jointly participate in research activities and grants.

ORIC will facilitate the university in organizing national and international research conferences and symposiums.

It will facilitate faculty and research scholars of the university in obtaining travel grants from HEC and other funding organizations.

Facilitate faculty in obtaining research funding under National Research Program for Universities which is an initiative of HEC.

Facilitate faculty in research paper publication and reimbursement of publication cost as per the university policy.

RESEARCH JOURNAL INFORMATION

SZABUL Research Journal provides a conducive environment that connects researchers across all areas and provide them with a platform to share their scholarly research work. The journal being multidisciplinary publishes articles from numerous disciplines and areas. As an Open Access Journal, it strives for originality, innovation, merit and research integrity by bringing sound, significant and innovative research from researchers around the world to people across the globe. SRJ publishes significant, impactful, empirical and original high quality research work to advance not only human knowledge but also societal growth.

He has over 18 years of professional/academic experience and has been with SZABUL since 2017. As per job description, he bridges academia and industry through collaborative projects for knowledge transfer and tech commercialization.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law (SZABUL University, Karachi) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Secretariat, Islamabad, on 31-12-2025, to strengthen academic collaboration, student engagement, and awareness regarding taxpayers’ rights. This MoU was facilitated through the initiative of Mr. Arslan Rafique (LLB Student), Campus Ambassador of the Federal Tax Ombudsman, whose efforts played a key role in establishing this institutional partnership. The collaboration aims to promote joint seminars, research programs, awareness sessions, and internship opportunities, providing SZABUL students with valuable exposure to the FTO’s role in administrative justice, transparency, and taxpayer facilitation across Pakistan.

Business Bazar 3.0

We have been successfully organizing the Business Bazar for the past two consecutive years, providing a platform for students to showcase their entrepreneurial skills, creativity, and business acumen. Building on this success, we are pleased to propose an expansion of the event as Entrepreneurial Festival 2025, aimed at fostering greater industry-academia linkages and offering students a holistic entrepreneurial experience. The primary objective of the activity is to create an engaging and immersive environment where students can exhibit their entrepreneurial skills by presenting ideas, startups, digital marketing skills, and foster connections and industry interaction among students. The event will serve as a dynamic platform for experiential learning, business networking, and exposure to real-world market practices.
